Nordhavn introduces new design

Nordhavn

Pacific Asian Enterprises (PAE), builders of Nordhavn power voyaging yachts, has introduced a new design that is aimed at a wider market of power voyagers. Up to now the company has targeted world cruisers with its fleet of larger vessels.

At 59 feet overall, the new Coastal Pilot is designed to appeal to those whose cruising plans keep them closer to home, but still want offshore ruggedness and economy of operations.

The 59 CP will feature a semi-displacement hull designed for modest top speeds in the 20-knot range and offers an efficient ride at lower cruising speeds. PAE’s Vice President Jim Leishman calls the 59 CP a “transitional” boat. Leishman said the boat could be popular with current Nordhavn owners who are winding down their world cruising and considering a new boat with lesser time and effort restraints. “This is the perfect type of vessel for anyone with dreams of extended cruising that don’t involve ocean crossings, for instance, an Alaska to Maine itinerary,” said Leishman.
