French artist Julien Berthier has an unusual boat. The vessel, dubbed Love Love by Berthier, is a 21-foot sailboat that has been cut in half and rebuilt so it floats in attitude that makes it look like it is sinking. Berthier says his boat is "the permanent and mobile image of a wrecked ship that has become a functional and safe leisure object."
Love Love has been fitted with a keel to keep it stable in its permanent distress posture. The boat also has an engine for propulsion, as its rig doesn't seem properly set up to carry sails. According to press reports, when Berthier is out on water with the boat, its seemingly sinking aspect has drawn plenty of interest from good samaritans trying to rescue the Frenchman.
