If you have already purchased Marlinspike, the fragrance by A.G.A. Correa that smells of tarred marlin, but want something to make the ladies growl like a well-tuned Westerbeke, there is now Diesel, the new fragrance offered by theclothing company of the samename.
Diesel cologne, which is being touted as "the fragrance of the brave" by the manufacturer, was introduced in the U.S. this spring and has been selling wildly at specialty stores around the country, according to a spokesperson from Macy’s in New York City.
Unlike diesel fuel, the scent of which can stir people to nausea, Diesel cologne is moving in a different way. "It’s a very masculine scent because it has a citrus top note and dries down to a base note that has a very musky and woody tone," said Nanci Kirczow, national sales manager for Exotic Fragrances, Inc., a New Jersey-based company that markets the fragrance in this country. "A lot of the other men’s colognes are lighter and have a much broader appeal, but this one is very distinct."
Diesel sells for $38 for a 2.5-ounce bottle and can be purchased at Macy’s, Nordstrom stores, and the Diesel store in New York City.
