Mark Reedenauer Named NMEA President & Executive Director

Marine industry veteran to lead global electronics organization

Mark Reedenauer, President & Executive Director of NMEA

The National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) Board of Directors is delighted to announce the promotion of Mark Reedenauer to President and Executive Director of the international standards writing and marine industry organization. He will be responsible for all operations and activities of NMEA, including playing a principal role in creating strategies for continued growth and standards development.

In his previous position as Managing Director, Reedenauer managed NMEA's day-to-day operations and served as primary liaison with the membership and marine industry. Prior to that as NMEA Documentation Specialist, he oversaw the Marine Electronics Installer programs and all NMEA technical standards, including NMEA 0183, NMEA 2000® and the recently released 2014 edition of NMEA 0400 Version 4.00. Reedenauer joined NMEA in 2011 with 12 years of experience in the marine industry, including several years at Airmar as Marketing Manager and at Northstar as Technical Sales
 and Support Specialist.

"In January last year I was elected Chairman," said Johnny Lindstrom. "At the time we were without a President so those responsibilities fell to me. I was grateful for the dedicated staff I had the opportunity to work with. I was impressed with how Mark handled the various tasks given him and the insight he exhibited in our many conversations. I encouraged
him to throw his hat into the ring for consideration. I'm very pleased the NMEA Board Search Committee, while receiving a number of impressive resumes, gave the nod to Mark. I believe he will serve with distinction and guide the organization with a steady hand."

"I want to thank the NMEA Board of Directors for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to lead the NMEA to the next level," said Mark Reedenauer. "The NMEA staff, board, and committees are working and collaborating like a well-oiled machine-the best I have seen since I joined the NMEA in 2011. As President & Executive Director, my first focus will be to enhance any of the NMEA offerings that members indicate need improvement. I invite our membership to reach out to me with questions or concerns-good or bad-as I will definitely be reaching out in 2015."

Founded in 1957, the NMEA has led the way in establishing technical standards for data exchange in marine electronics, with the widely accepted NMEA 0183 data protocol, NMEA 2000®, and certification standards for marine electronics technicians. NMEA standards and programs focus on ensuring that the boating consumer is provided with reliable products and professional service.
