Fife classic to participate in first Antigua regatta

Tuigacarloborlenghi

Tuiga, the Yacht Club de Monaco’s beautiful 1909 William Fife-designed flagship recently crossed the Atlantic for the vessel’s first ever Western Hemisphere regatta. Tuiga will participate in the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta (19-24 April 2012) where she will join Elena, replica of the Nathaneal Herreshoff-designed traditional racing schooner launched in 1911, who will also be flying the Yacht Club de Monaco’s flag.

Tuiga did cross the Atlantic, but did not do so under its own power. Rather, the wooden classic was shipped across the ocean on board the ship M/V Dolfijingracht, unloaded at Charlotte Amalie in the U.S. Virgin Islands and sailed to Falmouth Harbor on Antigua. The Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta will run from April 19 to April 24.
