Bermuda charging $250 for yacht entry

As of June 1 Bermuda has decided to extend the initial permitted stay for visiting yachts and their crews from 21 to 90 days, and has increased the fee to $250. Minister of National Security Wayne Perinchief said in a statement, “Visiting yachts and crews spent over $10 million in Bermuda in 2010. Extending the permitted length of stay will increase this contribution to the local economy and do more to further the positive image of Bermuda as open for business and demonstrate more red carpet and less red tape," according to an article on Bernews. Extensions for a further 90 days may be applied for.

It has not been reported if these fees are being collected at this writing. The former fee was $35 per person for the shorter permitted stay.
