The Maritime Gallery at the Mystic Seaport in Connecticut is presenting its 30th annual International Marine Art Exhibition Sept. 27 through Nov. 15.

The exhibition presents more than 125 works of marine art, including paintings, sculpture, scrimshaw and ship models. “A number of these artists have been participating in the prestigious international juried exhibition from its inception in 1979,” said Jeanne Potter, director of the Maritime Gallery.

Artists represented at the juried show include Peter Layne Arguimbau, David Bareford, Ian Marshall, Victor Mays, Yves Parent and others. Potter says that 120 artists chosen for this year’s show come from the U.S. and 11 from other countries. Eight awards will be given out including the Rudolph J. Schaefer Maritime Heritage Award, which recognizes the work that best documents our maritime heritage. Judges include Rodney Johnstone of J/Boats, Inc., Sotheby’s Elizabeth Beaman and Mystic Seaport Trustee Emeritus Rudolph J. Schaefer III.

All of the works are available for sale and gallery admission is free. The exhibition can also be viewed online at www.mysticseaport.org/gallery.
