Wave-powered voyager

A Japanese marine adventurer named Ken-ichi Horie plans to make a 3,780 nautical mile-voyage from Honolulu to Japan using a wave-powered boat. The vessel is outfitted with bow-mounted, underwater flaps that move up and down as the boat, dubbed Suntory Mermaid, moves up  anddown through ocean waves. As the flaps move, they provide about three knots of thrust to move the boat forward. The trip should take more than two months. If successful, the voyage of the Suntory Mermaid  will be the longest passage completed by a wave-powerd vessel. You can follow the voyage at the Suntory Mermaid website.
