Voyagers to re-create Bligh’s open-boat trek

Australian sailor Don McIntyre, together with a crew of three other sailors, will attempt to retrace the voyage of Captain William Bligh’s legendary open-boat voyage from Tonga to Timor in the South Pacific. The team, which includes the record-setting teenage circumnavigator Michael Perham, will subsist with limited supplies and cover the 4,000 mile course without the aid of modern navigation systems.


McIntyre does not underestimate the challenge ahead: “We’re incredibly excited to get close to Captain Bligh and his crew; however everyone aboard the Talisker Bounty Boat will be pushed to the limit of endurance and survival, forever hungry and unsure of everything, except their own desire to fight through this.”
