Skipper Gunnar Krantz and his Team SEB were hit by a huge wave that completely submerged their boat, according to Volvo Ocean Race Media.
The yacht quickly recovered, but crewmember Glenn Kessels was swept overboard and left clinging to the portside wheel. He was retrieved from the water without injury by his fellow crewmembers. The wheel was seriously damaged in the incident, according to Skipper Krantz.
The 7th Leg of the Volvo Ocean Race is proving a wild and dangerous ride for SEB and the rest of the fleet as they set their sights on La Rochelle.
