Ugly spat between sailor and jetskier

The rage between sailors and jet-craft operators came to a headthis past summer in one of Maine’s most bucolic harbors. A hard-driving operator of a jet craft was enjoying a few minutes of thrills in Pulpit Harbor, North Haven on an August evening, when the captain of an anchored dude schooner – loaded with passengers – pointed an antique pistol at the man and opened fire. The pistol was loaded with blanks.

The men then exchanged hostile words, but no one was injured. The schooner captain reported to the U.S. Coast Guard that his passengers were in distress as a result of the speeding jet craft. The Maine Marine Patrol has filed charges against the schooner captain with the district attorney in Rockland. The Coast Guard is also conducting an investigation, which was pending at press time.
