A fleet of 28 Oyster yachts departed Nelson’s Dockyard in Antigua for the first ever Oyster World Rally on Jan. 6. The event marks Oyster’s 40th anniversary.
Beginning with a canon blast from a lookout post high above Antigua’s Pillars of Hercules, the yachts embarked on a 27,000-nm, 16-month circumnavigation that will finish back in Antigua in April 2014.

After leaving Antigua, the fleet sails through the Panama Canal and onward to the Pacific Ocean. The rally plans to visit 31 destinations with the Galápagos Islands, Marquesas, Tahiti, Bora Bora, and Moorea the first ports of call.
The participants hail from Canada, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, South Africa, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the U.S.
