Milwaukee, WI – The 24th annual, T-Ten North American Championship regatta featured 30 boats from all over the Great Lakes. Hosted at South Shore Yacht Club in Milwaukee, WI, the four-day event was sailed off the shores of Lake Michigan Thursday through Sunday.
Steady winds and significant seas were the prevailing conditions this year. The first two days of the regatta featured a total of seven races. The remaining two races were sailed Sunday, after an abandoned day on Saturday, due to weather.
Sunday’s battle for first place occurred in strong winds and large seas that caused over half the fleet to either drop out, or never leave the dock. Surfing to victory in the tough conditions, Jeff Sampson’s, “Sunday Money”, overcame a four-point deficit to pass, Arvid Eiesland, and the “Wild Norwegian” crew. Mike and Beth Eckstein and the crew of “Demon Rum” took the overall third spot.
