The New York-based yacht-design firm Sparkman & Stephens celebrates 75 years of business this summer. As part of the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta, which is held each year on Penobscot Bay on the Maine coast, S&S announced that its Downeast Rendezvous will be a celebration of the company’s varied heritage. Events include a symposium featuring some of the world’s most respected yacht designers, displays of vintage and modern designs, a traditional lobster and clambake, and several races.
The Rendezvous runs from Tuesday, Aug. 3 to Saturday, Aug. 7. Numerous designers will appear, including German Frers, Bruce Johnson (now president of S&S), Bruce King, Roger Marshall, Greg Matzat, Chuck Paine, David Pedrick, Doug Peterson, Bob Stephens, and Craig Walters.
