Report predicts fewer August hurricanes

Hurricane

A report by Colorado State University’s Department of Atmospheric Science has found that the coming hurricane season will be below average. The report predicts two hurricanes and five “named storms,” a sharp contrast to the average rate of five hurricanes and ten named storms. In addition, the report places the likelihood of a major hurricane making U.S. or Caribbean landfall as well below average.

The department will offer regular week weather forecasts throughout the month. The next planned forecast will be August 18th, and the most recent was August 4th.
