Briton Geoff Holt spent his teenage years as a sailor, crossing the Atlantic three times by age 18. His sailing days appeared to be over after a diving accident rendered him quadraplegic, but he went on to make a career of promoting sailing for the disabled and has continued sailing solo in offshore races. He will cross the Atlantic in the specially-designed Impossible Dream, a trip scheduled to take three weeks.
