Charles Green of Suffolk, England, built this pocket cruis-
er more than 50 years ago as an experiment in the process of boatbuilding and design. Measuring just 12 feet long, it was one of his first projects as a professional yacht designer and boatbuilder, but it incorporated his interest in producing designs that mixed new technology with traditional aesthetics. The boat, which he recently relaunched following an extensive restoration, features a high-aspect box keel underbody — a precursor, he said, to multihull designs — and a skimming upper hull.
“It’s actually quite fast,” said Green, who sails the boat on the Norfolk Broads, an area of artificial lakes in southeast England.
