Beaverton, Oregon, USA, May 12, 2011 – Nobeltec announces the release of its newest and most visually dynamic PC-based navigation software: TimeZero Trident. Built on the innovative TimeZero chart engine, also used by the Furuno NavNet 3D chart plotters, Nobeltec TimeZero Trident offers a sophisticated new user interface designed to be extremely intuitive and easy to use. The chart engine features seamless chart graphics with incredibly fast redraw, allowing users to easily zoom, pan, change display modes, and perform other chart handling functions quickly.
The Trident software is designed for recreational yacht owners who demand the best and most cutting-edge software available, as well as international cruisers and commercial workboat captains who need a system capable of displaying various chart sources. Trident operates in a full 3D environment so charts render in a native 3D mode. The software uses MapMedia charts and users can choose which data they prefer from multiple chart sources in the MM3D format. The options within the MapMedia data include vector charts from C-MAP by Jeppesen and DataCore by Navionics, as well as official S-57 vector and raster charts from hydrographic offices around the world.
The TimeZero Trident system reacts in real time, so the user’s boat moves realistically on the chart at the same pace as it is actually moving through the water. This instantaneous realism adds precision and veracity to the navigation system.
The introduction of PhotoFusion enhances the Trident experience by allowing the user to navigate over raster and vector charts while viewing high resolution photography. Land areas (zero depth) are completely opaque so these areas are displayed as high resolution satellite photos on the chart. As the depth increases, the satellite photo because more transparent allowing you to see where shallow water ends and deeper water begins. This is an invaluable aid in identifying sand, rocks, coral and other obstructions found in shallow water.
Nobeltec continues to develop and sell Admiral and VNS, the existing Nobeltec software products. TimeZero Trident is not a replacement for Admiral or VNS, but is new product line that is streamlined to offer users a cleaner, simplified interface and navigation experience.
Like the current versions of VNS and Admiral, Trident is compatible with Nobeltec InSight radars. Additionally, Trident supports the best of class Furuno FAR2XX7 radar making it ideal for light commercial and workboat users who want to optimize radar integration. Trident will also integrate with Furuno’s NavNet 3D chart plotters and Radar (DRS), DFF1 and DFF3 black box sounders, the FA30 and FA50 AIS units, standard NMEA 0183 navigation sensors, and NMEA 2000 networks.
SRP for Trident will be $1250, but Nobeltec is offering a special $1000 introductory prize at launch. Nobeltec will also offer a Furuno Radar Sensor Integration Plus Pack ($500), Furuno Network Sounder Integration Plus Pack ($500), and the Nobeltec InSight Radar Integration Plus Pack (which is $1000, or included in the price of a Nobeltec radar).
The development of a Nobeltec product based on the TimeZero engine has been anticipated since Signet S.A. purchased Nobeltec in October 2009. The TimeZero codebase is shared between Nobeltec, MaxSea, and Furuno and is representative of the investment Signet has made in Nobeltec over the past year.
Nobeltec produces a variety of award-winning products ranging from PC-based marine navigation software and data to radars and accessories. Nobeltec products are sold by quality marine dealers throughout the world.
