As reported by the British magazine MotorBoats Monthly: Noah’s Ark is alive and well and sailing round the Netherlands. Well almost anyway, but it’s not Noah’s original, but a one-fifth scale replica built by Johan Huibers.
The 70m craft, together with a passenger load of horses, lambs, chickens, rabbits and other animals, will be used as a floating religious monument and zoo. It was built at Schagen north of Amsterdam, using American cedar and Norwegian pine, and cost around £0.7 million.
Mr Huibers stresses that, despite global warming, he doesn’t believe that the world will be destroyed by a second flood. Nevertheless he does plan to build a larger Ark when funds permit.
