HP Watermakers has pulled the sheet off a new model, the HP Genius. The manufacturer says it’s a lighter unit that can be installed more easily than previous models. The company is introducing the new model at the Boot Düsseldorf show in Germany Jan. 18 to 26.

“The new HP Genius sets new standards in terms of low eight and ease of use, but it will not be our stand’s only attraction,” Gianni Zucco, co-founder of HP Watermakers, said in a press release. “We will also be displaying the new HP SCA Double 440 watermaker.” That model was introduced at the 2024 Cannes Yachting Festival. HP will also show the HP Kilo that is designed for 35 to 50-foot boats.

The HP Genius is a water dispenser directly linked to a tank-linked distribution system that provides purified chilled water than can also be sparkling. The watermaker is designed to be installed in a boat’s galley and dispense bacteria-free purified water with no chlorine taste from the sink’s tap. The company says the filtration system removes chlorine and traps bacteria and pollutants. A bactericidal silver ion treatment system sterilizes the water where it exits the faucet. A re-mineralizing filter enriches the water, giving it better taste and it contains elements of mineral salts and is sterilized and drinkable. Users have a choice of having it chilled, at room temperature or sparkling.

Perhaps the most noteworthy feature is a new thermostat that ensures faster dispensing of water at a desired temperature. The unit comes with a keypad with an on-off button and controls for setting the temperature and choosing the water type.

The HP Genius comes with necessary hardware for installation and a re-mineralizing cartridge for low-salinity water, the same that is produced by a reverse osmosis desalination system. The watermaker measures 8.9 x 18.3 x 17.4 inches and weighs 33 pounds.

“The HP Genius has already been installed on hundreds of yachts of all sizes,” said Zucco. “With the new version, we have introduced a number of important innovations that make it even easier to install and adjust. These include a highly resistant polycarbonate body in place of the metal one, making it lighter but just as strong.”
