Maine yacht builder finishes 2.000th hull

Sabre Yachts of South Casco, Maine, reached a milestone recently when it launched its 2,000th hull. The 40-foot, two-inch-thick black hull, a Sabre 402, has a hand-crafted interior of American cherry and a custom deck layout expressly designed for racing. It is destined for an owner in Chicago who will compete in various events on the Great Lakes.

The first vessel to emerge from Sabre’s shop 26 years ago, a 28-footer, is still being sailed by its owners on Maine’s Casco Bay.
