From the press release: We are proud and excited to be working with our friends in Thomaston, Maine, at Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding to complete the production of this unique and special custom yacht. LM & Stephens Waring Yacht Design have looked long and hard toward finding the right opportunity, like this project; keeping an eye for working together to make one of our designs a reality at the hands of talented craftsmen and engineers at LM.
The heart of the build process is slated to commence July 15th, 2016, with preparations being made during June. This will occupy the operations over the next 12-13 months to meet a target launch in late August, 2017. We're eager to get going and we're grateful to have assembled such a great team; our design support combined with LM's talent makes for a fun and rewarding combination that'll produce a yacht to be enjoyed for decades by her owners.
Over past months an interesting trail of work was created as we worked closely with our clients on what has become an exploratory continuum in concept design process that displays a range in sizes from 86 ft. LOA down to 50 ft. LOA sailing vessels. Many decisions and loops along the way have helped shape the results in the design brief, below.
Design Brief : Anna is the result of a conceptual design evolution that took our client through a process weighing basic dimensional parameters and how these attributes shape a particular vessel's design. Our design spiral led us to balance the right flare for interior comfort and sailing convenience with the exterior aesthetic wishes our client demanded; this chemistry weaves a thread of truly classic looks with modern sailing systems and engineering throughout. The Brief This modern classic sloop boasts a hefty edge towards comfort, first and foremost, with a design brief that focuses easy day-sailing and entertaining of friends and family. The roomy cockpit adjoins a sumptuous raised salon, making socializing and communications seamless between exterior and interior spaces, and provides great visibility while sailing or at anchor– 360 views and stargazing while at your favorite gunkhole, or making a centralized post while conducting an offshore delivery watch. Accommodations allow private staterooms to sleep 6, though overnights and cruising are low on the priorities– generally for delivery passages up and down the eastern seaboard.
