Lifeboat for active survival hits water.

The Portland Pudgy, the first production lifeboat designed for

recreational sailors to use in an emergency as a sail- or rowboat, was introduced in February at the Strictly Sail Miami boat show. David Hulbert, the boat’s designer, pictured below on a demonstration sail in Miami Harbor, said the vessel sails and rows well and can support more than 600 lbs of weight while maintaining 7.5 inches of freeboard.
