Zhu-Hai, China&mdashJet Tern Marine, the builder of Selene Ocean Trawlers has introduced a new line of motoryachts designed by Howard Chen, founder and president of Jet Tern. They have been named the Artemis series after the Greek goddess often identified with Selene and will be built at the Jet Tern facility in Zhu-Hai, China. The Artemis line was developed in response to consistent and strong market demand for a high performance yacht built by Jet Tern. Eventually, models from 36 to 66 feet will be developed.
The first model in the Artemis series is a 46-footer that splashed in November and is the result of months of design, development, and tooling by Howard Chen and his team. The Artemis 46 is a two-stateroom, two-head yacht ideal for cruisers seeking quality construction as well as speed. The Artemis 46 has a beam over 14 feet, walkaround decks, flybridge, and covered cockpit. A stylish sliding door opens to the saloon with a contemporary design and built-in settees with seating for four around an adjustable table. The interior layout is open with the helm station to starboard and the galley down two steps to port.
Hull 4602 is equipped with twin Yanmar 6LY3 380hp engines and is designed to cruise at a top speed of 23 knots. Fuel capacity is 400 U.S. gallons and she holds 100 U.S. gallons of water; engine room access is through a hatch in the cockpit. The new Artemis series is a result of consumer interest in a yacht built with the same exacting craftsmanship and engineering as Selene Ocean Trawlers but with the capability to cruise at higher speeds. According to Howard Chen, “This is a yacht with global potential. Our worldwide dealer network saw immediate interest in the Artemis and we believe there is great opportunity in the local Asian market as well.” The first four Artemis 46 yachts have been sold to customers in China. The Jet Tern global dealer network is also ready to take orders.
The base price of a new Artemis 46 is estimated at $690,000 including freight and commissioning. Sea trials on hull number 4603 were successful in achieving the 23 knot top speed and production on the first four orders has begun.
