The Florida Sea Grant Program, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and the Marine Industries of South Florida have awarded their Clean Marina and Clean Boatyard designation to the Hinckley Company of Southwest Harbor. The Maine-based boatbuilder operates a construction and repair facility in Stuart, Fla. They are they first marine facility in Martin County to be recognized by the Clean Boating Partnership and the first to earn these designations for their commitment toward protecting Florida's marine environment.
The company has adopted sound management practices and numerous safeguards to prevent contaminants such as solvents, paint, wastewater and fuel from reaching the marine ecosystem.
