Harken announces the availability of its award-winning CLR™ (Compact, Light, Retractable) mooring and docking assist winch in five sizes appropriate for power and sailboats from 13 to 76 m. The products offer incrementally increasing holding power from 600 to 8000 kg.
Harken CLR stows flush, mounts under-deck and features unprecedented physical and mechanical characteristics.
“We developed the CLR to provide a docking winch solution that was lighter and more compact than what has been previously available,” said Emanuele Cecchini, Commercial Director of Harken's Italian factory where the CLRs are designed and built. “We think the product's unique form factor has enabled us to meet those challenges.”
The CLR stows completely below deck and occupies less horizontal and vertical space required by the previous market leaders. This is important to naval architects and deck designers looking for a very compact solution that makes mooring easier for owners and crew, while freeing up room for other equipment belowdeck. The CLR also weighs significantly less than its competition while delivering comparable mechanical advantage.
CLRs employ a unique geometry made of distinct aluminum columns rotating together around a center axis. This creates a very light solution with substantially more line holding power and low speed torque than would be available from a traditional drum design.
“Powerboat and sailboat owners can take advantage from progressive builders who include the CLR as optional or standard equipment. They can also consider retrofitting CLR into an existing yacht,” said Davide Burrini, Harken's Global OEM leader. “The wiring and installation work required can easily be done by a professional refitting yard.”
Manufacturers interested in more information about the CLR can see a live presentation of the full range at boot Düsseldorf 2020, Tuesday, 21 January from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Harken distributor Peter Frisch GMBH Stand, Hall 10, Stand H21 – H39. CLR will also be on display at the Frisch stand throughout the show.
