Taylor Made Products of Gloversville, N.Y., has helped brighten docks by introducing their new line of patented glow-in-the-dark dock bumpers. The 93-year-old company is a world leader in buoys, dock guards and fenders.
The new MarineGlow bumpers are available as straight sections, dock wheels and corner pieces. The new technology uses silica-encased strontium luminescent material that will glow for up to eight hours after exposure to sunlight.
Being able to spot the corner of a dock quickly without resorting to the use of a night-blinding spotlight might be especially handy. It may also be appreciated by dockmates who don't want a boat's spotlight shining in their cabin window as it attempts to find the end of the dock in the dark.
