Getting sandbagged

Recently, Mystic Seaport in Mystic, Conn., had a race for sandbaggers, including its own 1880-built beauty, Annie, at right, along with Bull, far left and Bear, middle. These boats typically have rigs twice as high as the boats are long and usually require ten crewmembers to wrestle the 50-pound bags of sand they use as ballast. Truly these boats are things of beauty on a clear day like this.
