Forespar founder, Bob Foresman, passes away

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA – Forespar Founder, Dr. Robert (Bob) Foresman, died at his home in San Juan Capistrano on December 30, 2012.  Born in 1925 in Pasadena, California, Bob was an Orthodontist by profession and served in the Navy’s “V-12” program as an officer in the Navy Dental Corps in WWII and Korea.
Besides his family, Bob’s first love was sailing and the ocean.  He started sailing at a very young age by building a 10 foot sailboat before moving on to larger ocean going vessels.  His inventive nature led him to develop numerous products for his own sailboat.  This desire to optimize his boat led him to establish Forespar Products Corporation in 1965.  There he designed and marketed an unprecedented array of products specifically designed for sailing.  His innovation and focus on quality products established Forespar as a recognized leader in the marine industry.
Bob was involved in product development and came to work every day until late last year.  His son, Scott Foresman, has been leading Forespar for the last 5 years. He literally grew up in the business as Forespar's "first employee" and has run several marine and non-marine businesses.
Bob will be remembered as a true pioneer and innovator in sailboat hardware.  He is survived by his wife, Juin and children: Scott Foresman, Guy Foresman and Gayl Foresman Beller as well as eight grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bahia Sail Racing Association which assures support for the next generation of amateur sailors, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization.
