Two of our regular contributors are voyagers Jim and Jean Foley, who sail the world on board their 63-foot aluminum pilothouse cutter Onora (photo below at its 2004 launching). This intrepid couple, who've been just about anywhere you can sail a boat and who have written numerous articles for Ocean Navigator, were recently lauded for their efforts by the Cruising Club of America (CCA) which awarded the Foleys their 2014 Far Horizons award in recognition of more than 110,000 miles of offshore cruising during the past 21 years. The award was presented by CCA Commodore Fredric T. Lhamon at the Club’s annual Awards Dinner at the New York Yacht Club on March 6, 2015.

The award was established by the Club’s Governing Board to recognize members of the club for “a particularly meritorious cruise or series of cruises that exemplify the objectives of the Club as stated in its Constitution.” And the Foleys have certainly done that!
