Flo-Flo Atlantic yacht transport service expands

Dockwise Yacht Transport (DYT), the world’s only float-on/float-off yacht transport service, has launched its 5th ship, the 685-foot Yacht Express, built at the Yantai Raffles Shipyard in China. Yacht Express will be the largest vessel of its kind in the world, purpose-built with a semi-submersible dock bay that allows yachts of any size to be floated on and off as cargo. Yacht Express will join four other semi-submersible yacht carriers in DYTs existing transatlantic liner service.

The new ship sails at 18 knots cutting transatlantic voyage times from 15 to 8 days, the company said and has amenities such as cabins for ride-aboard crew, a pool, and fitness facilities.

Yacht Express has a submerged draft of 72 feet, a beam of 106 feet, 55,060 square feet of deck space, and a carrying capacity of 5,000 metric tons, and expands DYT’s regular service to and from Florida and the Mediterranean. the company calls the vessel “the world’s first purpose-built semi-submersible yacht carrier.”

Since its maiden voyage in 1987, Ft. Lauderdale-based DYT has transported over 8,000 motor and sailing yachts.
