Fascinating wind animation

Hintfmwind

This is a fascinating website that shows National Weather Service wind data in animated form across the U.S. mainland. This animation (done as an art project, not a weather data service!) is a very cool way to visualize large scale weather systems over land. One intriguing aspect is to see how wind blowing south from Canada and moisture laden wind coming up from the Gulf of Mexico meets in states like Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, etc. Seeing these winds interact helps to explain why these U.S. states experience the severe thunderstorms and tornados.

Unfortunately, this site only shows wind blowing across land areas. We need a nautical version of this. Have you run across one in your web travels?
