Electric propulsion supplier ePropulsion has expanded its 96-volt offerings. The company said it’s building on the ePropulsion Smart System Architecture, introducing a Pod Drive 20eSSA, G102-230 battery and a modular energy system called PowerCruise Essential for small electric and hybrid vessels. The new offerings will debut in the 2025 model year and were on display at the METSTRADE show in Amsterdam in late November.
“Following the success of our X-Series and I-Series motors and the G102-100 battery, and based on discussions with our boat builder partners, we have enhanced our existing product offerings,” Danny Tao, co-founder and CEO of ePropulsion, said in a statement. “We have prioritized our product innovation and increased our R&D efforts to better serve our partners in the development of future boat design. We want to create a one-stop shop for our partners without multiple vendors to manage. “
The Pod Drive 20 eSSA combines the motor, propeller and cooling system into a compact unit that mounts underneath the hull bottom. It is designed to free up interior space and be flexible with mounting options compatible with a variety of vessel types. The company says the drive fits on a Volvo or Yanmar sail drive.
The G102-230 battery has a capacity of 23kWh and supports 3,500 cycles at 80% depth of charge. Up to eight units can be connected in parallel and the battery can power ePropulsion’s 96-volt, 10kW to 40kW motors including the X and I-Series plus the aforementioned pod drive series.
PowerCruise Essential is a modular energy system for electric and hybrid vessels. It works with all of ePropulsion’s 96-volt products and can offer functions like automatic power management, hybrid control and it can supply a vessel with AC or DC power needs.
