Digital Yacht introduces first 5 in. chartplotter with integrated AIS

Digital Yacht recently announced the premier of its 5-inch chartplotter with integrated AIS and GPS, the SmarterChart 500 AIS Combo. In addition to the usual charting and navigation functions, the SmarterChart 500 will overlay AIS positions and information for a range of up to 20 miles. The unit features an internal GPS (external antenna optional) and connects to either a dedicated VHF antenna or the boat’s main antenna via a splitter, in order to obtain the AIS information.
