The United States Yacht Shows, Inc., premier producer of the renowned United States Sail and Powerboat Shows, is launching the first-ever Cruisers University from May 12 – 15, 2011, at the Baltimore Marine Center at the Inner Harbor. Billed as “the Ultimate Aid to Navigation,” the four-day event will provide any aspiring or experienced cruiser expert instruction in a wide range of subjects pertinent to long-range cruising, as well as a number of hands-on activities, interactive instruction and a spectacular boat show. Those interested can register for one to four days of classes ranging from general cruising topics to master certification courses. One of the most unique aspects of Cruisers University is its interactivity, including a large in-water display of boats, both sail and power, outfitted with live-aboard cruising in mind. Participants who attend classes can enjoy demonstrations of equipment and systems as well as by boat sea trials. General admission attendees can take their time exploring the many boats, speaking with exhibitors and meeting the invited speakers/authors at the Author’s Corner. Additional events include an Opening Night Welcome Reception on May 12 with keynote speaker Bernadette Bernon, former editor of Cruising World magazine, who will share her inspiring experience aboard her 39-foot cutter, and an Evening BBQ on the Boardwalk on May 14.
