Ocean Navigator contributing editor Jeff Williams is a circumnavigator with tens of thousands of ocean miles under his belt — an impressive feat that shows up in the excellent articles he writes for ON.

His latest gig is pretty cool too: Jeff is currently working for NOAA as a remotely piloted vehicle (ROV) pilot. He is aboard the NOAA ship Okeanos Explorer, which is investigating the coastal shelf canyons along the Northeastern U.S. coast. Jeff is one of the operators that drives the ROVs from Okeanos Explorer's control room as they carry out the scientific program of discovery. Best of all, you can go to this website and watch Jeff do his thing as he pilots ROVs through these deep water canyons and observes their fascinating deep-sea ecosystems.
