Listening to the radio for a marine weather forecast is gradually becoming a thing of the past. Finding the perfect weather window for your next offshore adventure is now easier than ever with an app called Boating Weather, developed by Blue Whale Apps.
Boating Weather is available for the iPhone, iPad and Android devices. It provides valuable current data such as wind speed, surf and wave height for any coastal zone in the United States. The app also displays small craft advisories.
Forecasts are available for up to a week in advance, and are provided by the NOAA National Weather Service. This app does not show a forecast for inland lakes and rivers.
The user can set a default location and "favorite" other locations for easy reference. By default, the last viewed forecast is displayed upon re-opening the app.
