Bermuda Race centennial

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the original Newport to Bermuda Race, first run in 1906, and in time for this summer’s race, Mystic Seaport has issued a complete history of the race. A Berth to Bermuda, by veteran ocean racer and author John Rousmaniere, was commissioned by the Cruising Club of America.

A Berth to Bermuda describes notable personalities, the route’s unique challenges and numerous stories of the race during the past 100 years. The race has been running biennially since 1923, except for a break for World War II.

The 635-mile Newport to Bermuda Race departs June 16. For information visit the CCA’s Web site at: www.cruisingclub.org or www.bermudarace.com.
