Aboard Virginia, Bermuda to St. Thomas III

Below is a blog post written by Keith Barkwood, a Schooner Virginia crewmember, on Nov. 27, 2009, while en route to St. Thomas from Bermuda. David Berson was aboard as Ocean Navigator celestial navigation instructor.

It has been a fine day of sailing thus far. We are sailing full and by on a starboard tack. I am really excited about this because I get to roll into my bunk and against the bulkhead. Therefore, I am almost guaranteed a great sleep.

The moon last night was so bright that we almost needed sunglasses to cut the glare.  It made checking the boat very easy and quick. All that fails in comparison to the meal that we had. The Captain hove to and all hands gathered in the saloon for a wonderful meal. Carey outdid herself this time. Turkey, dressing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, gravy, and an assortment of pies. I feel like I am still trying to recover from all the eating I did.
