‪Increased Safety At Sea. Introducing Icom’s‬ ‪New Floating Marine VHF Handheld Radio‬

KIRKLAND, Wash. (June 2016) – Icom America, an industry-leading provider of marine communication products, announces the new M93D VHF handheld radio, the successor to the popular M92D. This new Icom handheld features active noise cancelling, dedicated built-in DSC receiver and internal GPS. The M93D also features Icomʼs new flat sheet keypad making it not only slim, but provides a positive click feeling during operation. Other advanced safety at sea offerings include a built-in compass and navigation functions.

“The M93D will be a critical component of any boaterʼs on-board safety at sea equipment,” says David McLain, National Marine Sales Manager for Icom America. “Ideal for the bluewater cruiser to the serious salt-water fisherman to the small kayaker, the M93D combines advanced safety features with intuitive user interface for faster and easier access to radio functions.”

Advanced noise cancelling reduces background noise by up to 90 percent on both outgoing and incoming calls. The handheldʼs extended battery life provides a full day of use, and a 12-volt adapter come standard with every radio.

“Internal GPS can quickly drain a radioʼs battery life,” McLain explains. “The M93D combats that problem with a big 1500mAh Li-Ion battery that provides 9+ hours of battery life for reliable all-day operation."

The M93D offers Icomʼs exclusive Float ʻn Flash and AquaQuake™ technology. Should this floating handheld be dropped overboard, a flashing light will activate, making it easier to locate. The Floatʻn Flash feature works regardless of whether the power is turned on. The AquaQuake™ draining function uses low-frequency sound waves to clear water away from the radio's speaker grill for clear audio.

Additional radio features include 2.3” full dot matrix high-contrast display, IPX7 waterproof rating, 50 waypoint memories with alphanumeric names for Navigation and loud BTL 900 mW speaker .

Available late summer*, additional features and information about the M93D can be found on the Icom America web site.
